This week we’ve got the usual stunning array of new bands to thrill, chill and amaze you. From New Jersey noise poppers to SF psych poppers to Welsh collectives, these are all names to learn because they are going to be big timing it in 2010. Next week we’ll bring you another overflowing bounty of brilliance, but after that we have some choices. We’ll probably have a year-end best-of HDJz round-up, but it might be cool to have a Reader’s Choice Hot Damn Jamz. Yeah, we were gone. Yeah, we are back. Like LFO. No, we have no excuses. No, we’ll never leave you high and dry again. I know you’ve heard it before, I know we’ve made promises we couldn’t always keep, but things will be different this time. We’ll be stronger, we’ll communicate more, we’ll be honest with ourselves and with you, dear jammerz. It won’t be easy, we know. There will be times we’ll want to give up, to take the easy way out, to turn our backs on the jamz. At those times we’ll think of the lives we changed and the jamz we’ve damned, and we’ll carry on proudly. This is our promise to you. 
This week we felt like strapping on guitars, plugging into Voxx AC 30’s and making some good ole fashioned rock& roll ruckus. We went looking for bands who give it up with lots of noise, fire and enthusiasm. We found some. We also found some bands who take this ferocious energy and inject it into some honest to goodness songs the likes of which should be beaming out of radio transmitters worldwide and straight into pocket radios, ladybug transistors and anyplace else rock & roll sounds good. Let’s rock it one time for the kids….. 
Don’t you wish we could all be as happy as the kids over to the left? They are Electric Youth and they are making us pretty giddy this week. Railcars are making us smile on the inside. Vowels have us wallking around with a knowing grin. Pageants are putting a little more pep in our step. Loose Shus have us coming down with a serious case of happy feet. St. Helens are leaving us with a warm feeling (and no, it’s not H1N1.). Try taking some of these jams out for a little test drive and see if they can’t improve your disposition too. 
Just like that disco robot over there, we at the HD Jamz are willing to go anywhere to bring back the sounds that make life worth living. (Well, almost anywhere. Nobody here really wants to leave their toasty warm cubicles but that’s just because of the amazing foot rubs, the complimentary fluffy robes and the around the clock valet service) That’s right, the breathtaking, life-changing, brain-rattling, baby-making jams that will have you hopping up and down like Tug McGraw just gave you the old hotfoot in the dugout. That’s a little baseball lingo for you there, Tiger. Free of charge. 
Okay, fine….call it a comeback. The Jamz went missing last week and we regret any inconvenience it may have caused anyone anywhere. It couldn’t be helped and we feel awful about it, really we do. I mean, who can you count on anymore in a world full of pain, suffering and nonsense if not the HD Jamz? Where can you turn for a bit of sunshine and hope if not the HD Jamz? We sincerely apologize from the bottom of our heartz and to show you we mean it, we’ve come back stronger than ever and tougher than leather with some HDJz that are going to rock you to your socks. Okay, not really tougher than leather. Actually, this edition focuses on the lighter side of the Jamz…. 
No jokey intro this week — we’re just not in the mood. Instead we want to dedicate the HDJs to the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir as they recover from a horrible van accident that left members of the band in various degrees of injury. Hey, gang. How’s it going? Hopefully you had a good summer (or winter if you’re in Australia or New Zealand — that is how it works, right?) and everything is working out well. Maybe you’re back in school. If so, we hope that goes swimmingly. Study hard and listen to the teachers, okay? Maybe you’re looking for a job — we hope that all works out too. Tough times all around. Sometimes it seems like the Jamz don’t mean a damn thing in this crazy world, sometimes it seems like they are all that matters. Wherever you are and however you are doing, we sincerely hope the music we dug up for you this week makes your life just a little bit better.
