I hope you’re doing a better job communicating the site issues to your corporate customers then you do explaining us what’s going on. Why is that so hard?
They really should explain to us. And the grammys are a joke these days. Please, can it be more mainstream ? DMB album is great, but look at the other nominees and the other categories, they didn’t nominate Animal Collective or Dirty Projectors, Grizzly Bear is nowhere to be seen inside the alternative field, at least It’s Blitz made it! But what am i suprised ? The grammys are always like this, all they care about is money and ratings, the music, unfortunate is not the focus anymore.
What site issues are you referring to Tim? The reviews that have
“disappeared” seem to have been restored and every other feature I have tried on this site recently is functioning as normal.
what crowded house are so great
This is completely outrageous
I find that the Grammys tend to always be very commerically focused, and I think if you look back into the history of the Grammys their track record doesn’t necessarily reflect what we now consider to be the most innovative, important and high-quality music of the past few decades. How many Grammys did The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who, and The Kinks win when they were young upstarts? I think Sinatra was still cleaning house back then, and I enjoy Sinatra music when I hear it, but honestly there were just decades that we’ve sort of accepted to be dominated by a style of musicianship that was sorely underrepresented then. I think a similar thing happened later with hip-hop, as it took quite a bit of time for hip-hop to start being recognized for quality music.
I think Grammy winners, in general, make very good music, but I think it is not just my personal opinion that they don’t often outright deserve the awards they get.
@ Lester: Not everything was restored yet, just check it out sheryl crow’s discography missing one album. i guess that most of the discographies were already restored, and everything is ok, but there are some that need are yet to be fixed
@Brian: I agree with you, how many classics albums by classics artists never won a grammy ? And i guess fleetwood mac’s rumours only won it album of the year because of its sales phenomenon. Grammys are always mainstream. It’s true that some of greatest albums of all time won it the album of the year, or were at least nominated, but they were all also commercial successful records, if they had flopped back in the day, things wouldn’t be the same.
1. Crowded House is a great band—the people voting are nuts.
2. ABC is a bunch of homophobic nuts. Bravo to Lambert for not apologizing. They knew what they were getting when they booked him for the final performance (after the final award–think they knew something was coming?)at 11pm. What a double standard they have for hetero performers who push the envelope and a gay male performer who does the same.
And they welcome Chris Brown for a 1 hour interview to explain his “anger” issues.
3. Grammy nominations—is this the best stuff they could come up with?
I think Sinatra was still cleaning house back then, and I enjoy Sinatra music when I hear it, but honestly there were just decades that we’ve sort of accepted to be dominated by a style of musicianship that was sorely underrepresented then.I like post very much as it contain informative knowledge. The given news are really good and interactive and generates the awareness among others.I want to know suggestion from others.
Way back in the 70s, the Rolling Stones were on Saturday Night Live. Being the “bad boys” of rock, as they were at the time – this was just after the release of Some Girls, the lyrics of the title song raised a few eyebrows, but that’s about it – Mick gave some tongue to Ron (who kept his lips firmly sealed, BTW) during one of the songs (I don’t remember which, not that it really matters). The public reaction…”hahaha, did you see that?”. There was Robert Plant with jeans so tight you could…well finish it for yourself; androgeny was rampant – Marc Bolan and his feather boas, Bowie in glam/drag. No one cared, particularly. There seems to be a very unsettling puritanism raising its particularly ugly head these days. Could be the boomers (of which I am one – though with a mind set that is very much to the left), late of child and worried that their kids might end up like they were back in the day, high and horny. As for Adam Lambert, it’s performance. He only did on TV what can be seen in numerous concert videos (available for free viewing when ever you want on sites like Youtube by such enlightened artists as Madonna). Give it a break, already. The media “cult of celebrity” reporting is sickening.
JAGGER LICKED the side of Ron Wood’s face… that can hardly be construed as (giving him some tongue)… and then what would it matter WHAT RW did with his lips… that is exactly why history cannot be believed after awhile.. the story get changed everytime it’s retold.
BlahBlahWoofWoof…
I think Lambert did what he did on purpose – look at all the free press he’s getting! I’m sure it was very calculated. Just like Madonna and Britney making out.
I guess they forgot to include Creed along with Nickleback in the worst bands. Vomitastic.
While Nickelback and Spin Doctors aren’t exactly shining paragons of rock integrity, if you went into what’s out there in terms of bad rock bands you would find 10,000 acts that would make the Spin Doctors seem like the Grateful Dead. If you limited only to major, charting rock acts, I honestly don’t think you’d find one worse than The Brooklyn Bridge. Ruthlessly insincere and commercial, jumping on the latest trend with an overwhelmingly pretentious, un-rock, pro-Vegas like attitude and built-in nostalgia factor, I think you could agree that they were indeed “the worst that could happen” to rock music in the generally perceptible realm.
My vote would be for Harry Connick, Jr. for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. It’s a very entertaining album and he’s a Steinway Artist…..
@Lester: many discographies are indeed lacking multiple albums now and some individual album entries have been messed with too.
I think Lady Gaga and Beyonce should each win an award for each of their catagories like lady gaga album of the year and so on. Taylor Swift has her awards now it’s beyonce’s and lady gaga’s turn to win something.
@Lester: Many things completely missing still. Check the genres section. In most categories all the recommended artists and/or albums are gone, as well as the entire alternative/indie rock genre.
