My Video Jamz of 2006

Do you like pop music? Do you like snappy visuals? Well, 2006 was a pretty good year for both. I’m a big fan of Camera Obscura’s loving recreation of early 60s advertising, the Long Blondes’ wittily cinematic split screens, the Bicycles’ endearingly DIY-goofiness, Love is All’s invigorating live performance, and the Golden Dogs’ all-out energetic charge through one of the great unknown pop anthems of the last decade.
Camera Obscura - “Lloyd I’m Ready to Be Heartbroken” (from Let’s Get Out of This Country)
Love is All - “Busy Doing Nothing” (from Nine Times the Same Song)
The Bicycles - “Australia” (from The Good the Bad and the Cuddly)
Golden Dogs - “Construction Worker” (from Big Eye, Little Eye)
The Long Blondes - “Once and Never Again”

Hey Lloyd I’m Ready to Be Heartbroken! That song is a masterpiece, the album too. Although i love when pitchfork named one this decade’s top 200 and allmusic included insde their Allmusic Loves 2006 this group still stands as one of the most underrated to come out this decade. I hope this year’s My Maudlin Career finally give this group their deserved and long awaited acknowledgment .
I wish I would have found here Guillemots’ trains to brazil, one of the best pop songs of 2006, even of the 2000s
