Hot Damn Jamz 29: We Want You to Be Happy!

Hey, gang. How’s it going? Hopefully you had a good summer (or winter if you’re in Australia or New Zealand — that is how it works, right?) and everything is working out well. Maybe you’re back in school. If so, we hope that goes swimmingly. Study hard and listen to the teachers, okay? Maybe you’re looking for a job — we hope that all works out too. Tough times all around. Sometimes it seems like the Jamz don’t mean a damn thing in this crazy world, sometimes it seems like they are all that matters. Wherever you are and however you are doing, we sincerely hope the music we dug up for you this week makes your life just a little bit better.

Duck Sauce
We’re going to be lazy and quote their MySpace page here because it really says it all — “Duck Sauce is Armand Van Helden and A-Trak making house music and eating Chinese food.”

The Uptown Bums
Hot rockin’ garage power-pop fun with The Uptown Bums!

Fergus & Geronimo
Look out below when the fuzzed pop of Fergus & Geronimo takes over your soul! Like Geronimo, maaan.

Fungi Girls
Thick gazin’ and muck with Fungi Girls.

The Dead Baron
Drums a-pounding and hearts a-racing with the drum and bass stylings of The Dead Baron.

Acid Girls
Are you in the mood for some NSFW disco house glitterball jams (possibly one featuring Frankmusik)?

Wild Nothing
We feel that it’s high time a shoegaze band that looked to the Cocteau Twins as an influence came along!

Private
Are you still missing Michael Jackson? We have a cure for the post-Jacko blues in the form of a trio from Denmark. You may have heard the singer doing the vocal hook from Junior Senior’s “Move Your Feet”, you may have heard his band Superheroes….you may not have heard either. You’ve got to hear “My Secret Lover” because it sounds almost exactly like what MJ and Prince at their respective primes would have sounded like if they had set aside their gigantic egos and made the bangin’ collabo the world was dying for. Check the video and prepare to dance!
