Looks like the Hot Damn Jamz crew are off on vacation somewhere this week. Last we heard they were jetting off to scenic Buffalo, NY to spend time with the in-laws. (Stay away from angry hockey players, guys!) To help ease the pain of no new Jamz this week, how about a blog blast from the past? How about a Crush Band?! I have a huge infatuation with the new single by the duo of Marina & Soko…..

Marina you might remember from the previously awesome Bonde do Rolê. She was their main vocalist until they booted her out of the group. Maybe the guys who staged the plot were afraid her awesomeness was making them look like tools. Mmmm, could be. Soko is a French singer who, according to Wikipedia, had a “big hit” in Denmark with the 2007 single “I’ll Kill Her.” This apparently was enough to kill her career elsewhere and she went so far as to declare herself “dead” on her MySpace profile at one point. I guess the possibility of hanging with Marina was enough to resuscitate her.

The duo hooked up with similarly hot producers Radioclit recently and recorded a single. Riding a very familiar War sample, the A-side “Mum” is perfect frivolous summer fun.
