Hot Damn Jamz 21: It’s Time for the Percolator!

Hey gang! This week we are coming on strong with some jams that leave no doubt that we are as serious as lions. Lions playing synthesizers….oh brother, can I go home now? No? Okay…in that case, we’ve got some weird disco, strange post-funk, a p-rock marching band, a retro-Native Tongue rapper and plenty of the usual happy robot noise to make you happy and maybe learn you a thing or two. Happy jamzing!

TenderLions
This San Francisco disco-tech crew makes flashy tunes of their own and also does wonderful things to other’s work - check their decon of Jay Z’s 99 Problems.

Débruit
This French producer calls his kinetic sound “post-funk,” but descrptions like “if Aphex Twin and Dilla had a baby” work too.

Neon Indian
Extremely warped, sweetly melodic, completely wonderful bedroom disco.

Deru
Silverlake’s instrumental hip-hopper Deru crafts sounds that are fragile yet streetwise, and more than a little ominous — a perfect fit for Mush Records, in other words.

Breakbot
Hot as monkeys Parisian remixer who does fancy things to songs by Metronomy and Sebastien Tellier among others.

Muccapazza
Punk rock marching band from Chicago…no more to be said.

Deer or the Doe
Surprise! More great Portland indie rock.

Songs for Moms
Their name seems to indicate that your mom will like it.

ULTRNX
Glitch-meisters Phil de Gap and Ahoi Boi are giving Justice a run for their money.

Mux Mool
After moving from Ghostly International to Brooklyn’s Moodgadget, Brian Lindergren gets all synth-sexy with it.

Micah James
Remember Native Tongues? Micah does.

Also, it’s time for the Percolator!
