This Week In White Rap with LEN
May 1st, 2009 | 6:55 pm est |
It’s been raining white rappers on the internetz this week. Thanks to the return of Eminem and the release of lame-brained collegiate rapper Asher Roth’s debut album Asleep in the Bread Aisle some names that were long buried have been tossed around like a worn out Kangol. Young Black Teenagers, Buck 65, Ugly Duckling, Third Bass, Rodney Dangerfield, Snow, House of Pain, Dee Dee King….some good, some laughable, all white as Wonder Bread.
Read more here, here and here. Oh, also here. So far nobody has mentioned those Canadian masters of rocking the mic LEN. Probably for good reason, I suppose. Not so good at the rapping…
“Cryptik Souls Crew”
“Crazy ‘Cause I Believe (Early Morning Sunshine)”
“People (Come Together)”
But they did record the best song of EVER!

Yeah their actual music that adhered to the grenre was pretty horrid, but despite your sarcasm, I maintain that “Steal My Sunshine” is an absolutely delightful spring break-ish party song. Not sure I’d want them around again, but maybe if they promised to try writing another pop song instead of a dozen wretched hip hop abortions, I’d give ‘em a shot
In other news…Snow!!!!!
man I listened to the crap out of this stupid song when it was on m2 1500 times a day
Coincidentally, Buck 65 is on that LEN album (and its cover apparently).
You forgot one last whitey with skills, perhaps the first of them all, Robert OZN (born Rosen) of EBN/OZN:

Wow, that LEN song takes me back.
That is the whitest thing ever. But there’s something irresistible about that girl. Wonder where she is now.
Being from Australia, we have for the last 20 years had white boy rappers. Some good, some not.
But in England there have been white rappers for the last 25 years. Some very successful. Examples include Massive attack, subsonic 2, look up “Talkin’ Loud” record label! Before I forget MC 900 Ft Jesus from Canada!
…except for the fact that the rapper in Massive Attack was Tricky, who is kind of black. And why mention Braintax, Jeh5t and the rest…
I’ve always appreciated that white rappers don’t seem to take themselves to seriously, it allows them to bring in influences not typically found in the genre. BTW I can’t believe that no one has mentioned the mighty 1000 Clowns. He may not have been the greatest rapper in the world but he knew a hook when he heard it.
