Catch Up While the AllMusic Blog Rests
December 24th, 2008 | 10:00 am est |
We’ve just placed the AllMusic Blog in a warm room with a five-disc DVD player stocked with Fireplace, Ambient Fire, Virtual Flames, Fireplace Lounge, and Ambience DVD Fireplace — as well as a laptop with an internet browser pointed at Rhino’s virtual yule log featuring Al Jarreau’s “Winter Wonderland” — to keep it company by playing on continual restful loop until the morning of January 5, 2009, when it will resume normal activity. In the meantime, the blog would love to have its archives scoured. There are album reviews, crush bands, buried treasures, recent favorites, Classical Corner, Whole Note, and so much more. Just as importantly, it does not want you to forget about all the series of 2008 roundups from the AllMusic editors:

Thanks for another year of great reviews, AllMusic!
Please check my blog for write-ups of my 50 Best Songs and 10 Best Albums of 2008.
Most of the albums in all the genres are by artists who are either playing it safe for commercial sake or are trying to run with the current trend in their specific genre i.e. not trying to create interesting music.I am a progressive music fan in a the broad sense of the term.I have not fully gone through the lists thoroughly but from what I have seen most of the albums don’t appeal to me.I always go to this site for an honest appraisal of albums which I mostly agree with but these best of album charts are rarely an honest opinion by editorial staff on any music internet site or magazine.Commercial interests/general appeal seem to reign the day.
That’s a huge number of yearly reviews! Thanks for all the efforts - best new year’s wishes for everyone connected with AllMusic.
Very intresting blog you have.
It looks like we share a common interest - weight loss. Why don’t you also post a comment at my blog?
