Legendary film and big band composer/arranger Neal Hefti died Saturday at his California residence. He was 85. Best known for composing such songs as the “Batman Theme” and the theme for the 1968 film version of “The Odd Couple”, Hefti was also an accomplished trumpeter and jazz musician, having composed for such name band leaders as Charlie Ventura, Harry James, and Count Basie. Radiohead’s 2007 album In Rainbows was apparently a financial success despite the bit-torrenting. In fact, the album — which fans could initially download for their own price — made more money before its physical release than the band’s 2003 album, Hail to the Thief, made in total. [NME.com]
